Residents in other specialities are invited to rotate with us for a duration of two or four weeks.
During this time, the resident manages one to two patients in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) at UC Irvine Medical Center. The ARU is a 14-bed acute rehabilitation unit that manages brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputees and stroke patients.
The resident participates in daily rounds with the attending physician and PM&R residents, as well as observing consults with the Rehabilitation Service. The resident is expected to present a topic at the end the rotation. This elective rotation allows residents to view the daily ins and outs of an inpatient rehabilitation service.
We recommend scheduling your elective rotation 60 to 90 days in advance. This is due to availability and to allow the processing for all required paperwork.
